The Real Reason I Don’t Go To Your Church by Chris Kratzer

No, it’s not the music style, the lighting, or the programs.

No, it’s not that I’m lazy, disinterested, or bent towards worldliness.

In fact, I care deeply about spiritual things, long for community, and have a generous heart for serving people…

Very powerful post, I encourage you to check it out!

Hope Unlimited Family Care Center

I want to take some time today to tell you about an organization that is very close to my heart.  It’s Hope Unlimited Family Care Center and Medical Clinic.  Many people here in our own area aren’t aware of it, and if they are, they are completely unaware of all of the wonderful things done and supported by this ministry.  Hope Unlimited has come a very long way since it’s beginning in 1989.  It started in a small building as a place for one to go with an unplanned pregnancy, for free pregnancy tests and support for the mom to be.  Now, some 27 years later, it has blossomed into a ministry serving not only these women in a crisis situation, but also the entire family, in crisis or not.  The vision of Hope Unlimited is to serve families as a whole and they now offer a myriad of services intended to do just that.

Yes, free pregnancy tests are still offered, but there is now so much more.  There is a program designed to help parents or guardians of children under the age of 18 to acquire necessities such as clothing, diapers, food and other essentials while also working towards a goal set by themselves, or working towards healing from certain past hurts that many of us carry.  There are programs in place to educate high school and middle school children on sexual integrity, and opportunities for men and women to learn job skills that will better empower them to find and keep jobs so that they may support their families.  There is also the medical side to Hope Unlimited..  Free STI testing is now available as well as a full OB medical clinic where a woman can choose to have her prenatal and post-partum care.

There are truly so many facets to this ministry that I can’t do it justice, I’m not a marketer…  If this sounds even remotely interesting, please click the link below.  It is an interactive copy of the newest newsletter from Hope Unlimited..

Mother’s Day kicks off one of Hope’s biggest fund raisers, the Baby Bottle Campaign!  This is a month-long campaign that runs from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day.  Many churches, businesses and individuals receive empty baby bottles and throughout the month, place their spare change in the bottles and return them to Hope Unlimited.  Change doesn’t sound like much, but it makes a HUGE difference!  Watch this year’s video here.

There’s a new video each year to kickoff this campaign, keep an eye on this organization!

In case you’re curious about what else may be offered, but don’t have time to check out the site, here’s a quick video touching on available services through Hope Unlimited Family Care Center and Medical Clinic.

Is the Church Like ‘The Walking Dead’? — Charisma Magazine

Millions of Americans (myself included) have been tuning into AMC’s The Walking Dead on Sunday nights. The show is so popular it even has an after show called The Talking Dead, for those who need to relive the last episode for another 45 minutes!

I don’t love the blood and guts, but the characters and storylines have drawn me in.

Rick Grimes (the main character) and the rest of his zombie-fighting crew have found themselves in extreme conditions as they fight for survival. These unimaginable circumstances have instantly turned their friendships into relationships that feel and look like family.

Let’s just say you don’t want to encounter them in a dark alley!

Three Marys For A Martha

Warning: This is a LONG post, but I hope it is worth it. I would break it up into two, but it needs to be said at once. It is my personal story, about which many people in my past know part of, but don’t know the whole.  Again, it is MY PERSONAL STORY, so you can come away thinking whatever opinion you want to when I am done, but it won’t change my truth.

Funnily enough, when I was a teenager, I was passionately Pro-Choice. I even won a debate about it once and felt all proud and progressive…but God has a way of knocking you on your butt when you get too high and mighty. He bonked me right on the head, I assure you.

There are three reasons I am pro-life.

1: I am a Christian–A Catholic Christian at that, so by default, I believe in respecting…
